Lots going on....New dogs new planned breeding and going to more shows. I really am enjoying the dogs.  Trying some new supplements to see if it will help boost some immune systems on Nelson and put some weight on Magnum.  He and Ivy are just so active.  This is Magnum.

Here are the girls!!! Andi and Aspen, they are out of Luka and Nubia.  Cute little sweethearts.  I decided  not to keep one. I have a half sister on Dame and Sire already.  I wish I could keep them all though.

Ciana got four V-1 ratings at the show in August and thus got her International Championship! Looking forward to her health clearances and 2015 breeding. Going to be a very nice 2015!!
Lots of hard work, but lots of love and fun too <3

BET Rottweilers Hope

Hope was born the day before Thanksgiving 2013.  She was the only one in her little.  We elected for a c-section since Krissy had one previously.  She was a healthy little pup thriving well. Then Thanksgiving Day with a house full of company I kept checking on her and Krissy in the whelping box.  About 5pm- something was definitely wrong. She was limp.  At first I thought she was dead.  then I saw her breathing.

I rushed her to the Vet that was open that day and they thought she was gone.  It took them quite a while to find a vein and get fluids in her, later they got a tube down into her tummy for food.  She had hypothermia,  was dehydrated and had low blood sugar all from Krissy not producing milk.  This had never happened in the past with her. But a lesson learned. Needless to say they are both fine and recovered well.  I told my daughter I hope she pulls through, and if she did we would call her "Hope" so I want to introduce Hope to you. Sire: Luka Von Hause Milsped and Dame: A Classy Lady

Danger to your Rottweiler - The Sago Palm

On Wednesday morning I found Ciana eating something in the back yard.  It had the appearance of a pineapple. As I walked outside to check what it was, I could see it was a type of root.  This is what I found.

I also saw a torn up white plastic bag. My assumption was that someone threw the bag over the fence.  I have no prof, But my dogs ate the root. This is my reason for writing, to inform everyone of the Highly Toxic effects that this plant has on pets and people.

Ciana was to show on 1/23-1/26 and I was packed and headed out of town with Magnum loaded in the car. I was dropping him off at the house in town and going to be gone through Sunday.
The dogs started vomiting on the way. This was about 11:00 am. I cleaned the kennels and started to load Ciana thinking "That's weird, both of them car sick".  Then, more vomiting. I looked in the kennel room and Magnum was very sick. I knew then it was "that root" that is making them sick.  I immediately had Jorja (our friend and secretary) run to the store to get Hydrogen Peroxide 3% to give to them to induce vomiting!

Please know this is what probably saved them!
You give 1 teaspoon per 10lbs to induce vomiting.  In an emergency situation.
I then rushed them to the closest Vet to have them checked.  I called home and had my house keeper bring the root to the vet to show him what they had ate.  It was then I found out it was a SAGO PALM. Truely not a palm at all. They are a Cycad plant that omit a very toxic poison called Cycasin that causes liver failure. Why would we have these plants if we were aware of what they do?
Ciana and Magnum we hospitalized and had aggressive treatment including IV therapy, Charcoal ingestion, Liver Meds to promptly remove the toxins before they were absorbed.  A hospital stay was necessary.
They are home and doing much better now. Thanks to prayers and a fast response before the toxins all absorbed.
Please inform those you know about the toxins in this plant. I am thankful that I still have my babies. See the attached snoops article for info about this plant.

Poisoning Alert- It has come to our attention that many home improvement stores are selling a houseplant that can cause serious poisoning in pets and children. The plant is called the "Sago Palm" or "Cycad". It is also referred to as "The Oldest Known Plant". It is used in outdoor landscaping in Southern States, but can only survive as a Sago palmhouseplant in the North. All of this plant, including the seeds and root ball are toxic. Signs of illness first appear about 12 hours after ingestion and include gastrointestinal sign such as vomiting, diarrhea and lethargy. The toxins in the plant lead to severe liver failure with progressive weakness, jaundice, bruising and bleeding and other signs of liver failure that lead to death. It is estimated that 75-80% of animals ingesting this plant will die in spite of aggressive medical treatment. If you have one of these plants in your home you will want to be sure to keep it away from pets and children, preferably by disposing of it safely in a covered trash can or "rehome" it with someone who does not have pets or young children in the household

Please note that this plant is toxic to people as well. Many of us are unaware of this.  You see this pretty plant in yards all over.
